Posted

ELKHART COUNTY - A Syracuse man was injured Thursday afternoon in a crash involving the tractor he was driving and a semi.
According to an Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office crash news release, at about 3:01 p.m. Thursday near the intersection of U.S. 6 and CR 43, 2 miles north of the city limits of Syracuse, a John Deere 4030, driven by Roger Shuder, 82, Syracuse, was traveling east on U.S. 6 on the side of the road.
A 2007 Kenworth semi, driven by Colton Dutoit, 36, Orland, drove around the John Deere to give the tractor space and Shuder turned left to go north on CR 43. The semi collided with the tractor, causing Shuder to be ejected from the tractor.
Shuder was taken to Parkview Regional Center by Samaritan helicopter for cuts to the head, the release states. Dutoit was not injured.
The tractor sustained damage all over. The semi had front-end damage and passenger-side damage.
