Syracuse Man Injured In One-Vehicle CrashSYRACUSE – A Syracuse man was in critical condition after his truck hit a tree Monday.
Rex C. Lewallen, 53, Syracuse, suffered serious facial and head injuries from the collision, according to a Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department news release. He was taken to Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne for treatment where he was listed in critical condition Tuesday morning.
KCSD and Syracuse Police Department are investigating the crash that occurred at about 3:13 p.m. Monday on North Huntington and West Boston streets in Syracuse.
The incident involved a southbound 2001 green Dodge Ram truck that hit a tree on the eastern edge of the roadway. It is unknown why the driver of the vehicle veered off the roadway into the tree at that location, the release states.
Officers stated that the crash is still currently under investigation.
The Kosciusko County Fatal Team and SPD was assisted at the scene by members of the Syracuse EMS, Samaritan Air Ambulance, Syracuse Fire Department and the KCSD.
