SYRACUSE - Holiday Magic is the theme for the first annual Town of Syracuse holiday open house.
Area merchants will host the open house Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. as a way to promote local businesses for the Christmas season.
The businesses are not normally open during the evening hours and area merchants hope people who may not normally shop at those stores because of the hours they're open will take the time to visit them Wednesday.
"They'll have their own give-away, promotions, sales, discounts or whatever," Syracuse-Wawasee Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Shelly Bickel said.
The area merchants participating in the Holiday Magic open house include Wawasee Floral, Poppy Cock's, VanMeter Jewelry, Thorndale Ivory Gifts, Centennial Wireless, Village Florist, Touch of an Angel, Country Mouse, Kay's Next to New, J.A. Business, Doc Miller's Fish and Seafood, Pickett Fences, Yeager Photography and Wawasee Tee Pee.
The stores will provide Christmas gift ideas for everyone on one's Christmas list. Refreshments will also be served.
Holiday Magic was chosen as a theme because they can use it every year, Bickel said.
