Syracuse Boy Scouts Assist With Riley Hospital Fundraiser

Posted

Syracuse Boy Scout Troop 728 assisted with the 17th annual Haystack Dinner Fundraiser benefitting the Makenna Van Laeken Endowment Fund for Liver Research at Riley Children’s Hospital in Indianapolis. The fundraiser was March 7 at New Salem Church of the Brethren, Milford. The Michael and Cheryl Van Laeken family created the endowment fund in memory of their daughter Makenna and are active in raising funds for Riley Children’s Hospital. The fundraising event provided both dine-in and curb side haystack meals for free-will donations in addition to an online auction. The Boy Scouts assisted by providing curb side service delivering meals to patrons in their cars. Over $16,000 was raised. Syracuse Boy Scout Troop 728 meets 6:30 p.m. every Monday throughout the school year at the Scout Lodge and Woods, 10433 E. CR 500. For more information on joining the troop or volunteering, contact Scoutmaster Trevor Ritter at 574-377-6177. Members of Syracuse Boy Scout Troop 728 stand ready to accept donations and deliver curb side haystack dinners to benefit Riley Children’s Hospital.
