Syracuse Annexes Tech Park, OKs Demolition Of House

SYRACUSE – The Syracuse Town Council Tuesday approved the annexation of the technology park located in Elkhart County.
The Syracuse Technology Park is south of U.S. 6 on Ind. 13 and is maintained by the town of Syracuse. Town Manager Henry DeJulia told the board that he would have a fiscal plan set and an agreement from Elkhart County.
In other news, DeJulia asked that the board approve the demolition of a house at 305 W. Pearl St. by JP Developers for $5,000.
Town Marshal Jim Layne said that 455 calls for service and four criminal arrests were made in April. Also in April, there were eight property damage and three personal injury accidents.
The annual Cruise ‘n Cuse car show will be Friday and Saturday. Life guards will begin working at the lakes Memorial Day weekend. Paving bids for roads in the town were approved for $109,757.60 and are to be finished by July 31.
Town council member Brian Woody said that he resigned from being the council representative for the Turkey Creek Fire Territory Board. Larry Siegel agreed to become the representative.
