A new school year is just around the corner, and Our Father’s House is gearing up for its annual Back To School Saturday.
The event is Aug. 13 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Our Father’s House, 401 Argonne Road, Warsaw.
During the event, free school supplies and clothing are given away to students in need.
More than 500 students were served last year, according to Roz Morgan, Our Father’s House founding director.
Morgan said she expects the event will serve more than 700 students this year.
“With the economy the way it is, families are having to make decisions whether to pay for gas or groceries, and this event helps get the students ready for school,” Morgan said.
Our Father’s House is seeking the community’s help in school supply donations. The organization purchases some of the supplies, and the community also donates supplies.
Morgan said the most needed item are bookbags. Other items that are being accepted from the community are crayons, pencils, pens, file folders, glue, scissors, rulers, protractors, compasses and any school supplies.
To receive the school supplies, students must be in first grade through college.
The event also will provide three free clothing outfits with socks and underwear to school-age children and teens.
To donate items, visit Our Father’s House Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
