Businesses on Buffalo, Center, Main and Market streets want to thank customers for their business.
Many of Warsaw’s downtown merchants have gotten together this Christmas season and created a way to show their appreciation for customers visiting their shops.
Michael Alspaugh, Warsaw resident, has been working with downtown merchants to bring “Super Santa Giveaway 2011” to downtown Warsaw.
“I had talked to downtown merchants who were disappointed in the lack of turnout two weeks ago in the Shop Local event and wanted to figure a way to get people in downtown stores,” Alspaugh said.
That is when Alspaugh came up with the idea for the Super Santa Giveaway 2011.
“The hope is that people will come into the stores to win a prize and shop while they are there,” Alspaugh said.
He said he hopes the prize giveaway also is a way to introduce people to the businesses that are in the downtown area.
People can take a flyer, available at participating stores, with the number on the first page and see if it matches the number that is selected by business owners to win a prize.
Alspaugh said participants do not need to be present to win the prizes and will be called when they win.
If the number does not match, participants can put their name and phone number in the bowl for a second chance for drawings each Friday.
Every participating store will give away a prize to a lucky shopper each week until Dec. 30 when the last number will be drawn.

Buffalo St. Participants must be 18 or older to participate at Rex’s Rendezvous and The Downtown.
On Center Street, businesses participating are Downtown Bar & Grill, 205 W. Center St.; Greek’s Pizzeria, 101 E. Center St.; Chocolate Cafe Boutique, 102 E. Center St.; Degraff Memorials LLC, 103 E. Center St.; Crownover Jewelers, 104 E. Center St.; Celebrations Ape Over You, 106 E. Center St.; Male Fashions, 109 E. Center St.; Studio 116, 116 E. Center St.; Merle Norman, 116 E.
