Sun Metal, Ind. 15, Warsaw, may close their local plant.
President of Sun Metal, Bob Piecuch, said this morning the company is not sure of its future.
"We have two plants in the area," Piecuch said, "one in Warsaw and one in North Manchester."
Piecuch said over the last 1-1/2 years, the company has moved its production to a manufacturing plant in China, "so now we need only one plant" in the area.
Both plants were put on the market, Piecuch said, and "whichever one sells first, we'll operate out of the other facility. We only need one of the two facilities for the operations we have here in the United States."
The North Manchester plant, which is a warehouse on Fourth Street, has been on the market "for some months now," Piecuch said this morning. And the Warsaw plant just went on the market within the last 30 days.
"We've had a number of people inquire about the Warsaw property," he said.
Piecuch said if the Warsaw property sells and the company moves to North Manchester, he's "not sure how many employees would continue. It all depends on the market."
The Warsaw plant currently employs approximately 90 people.
