PIERCETON – Four local students signed their offer letters with Paragon Medical Wednesday.
The event’s goal was to showcase and simulate a collegiate letter-of-intent signing event and help remove the stigma that only high school graduates going on to four-year schools with an athletic scholarship should be celebrated, according to a news release from Paragon Corporate Recruiter Jennifer Manes.
“Students going directly into the workforce/skilled trades are needed just as much as individuals with four-year degrees and should also be celebrated. There should be no shame or stigma attached to any career path that is chosen, provided you work hard and enjoy what you’re doing,” according to the release.
Manes said she began this initiative at Paragon in January and received the blessing from her executive leadership team immediately. They began partnering with area schools and each of these four individuals began their part-time high school co-op assignments during their spring semester.
“They all four did an incredible job and it was without hesitation that we extended full-time offers of employment to each of them following their graduation ceremonies over the last few weeks,” she said.
Receiving offers were Jocelyn Courtney, Whitko High School; Alex VanKirk and Emmanuel Marschke, Warsaw Community High School; and Jon Esenwein, Wawasee High School.
