WINONA LAKE – John Muir once said “The power of imagination makes us infinite.”
Kosciusko Lakes and Streams wants to inspire local youth to be stewards of the environment by encouraging their imagination and creativity.
In an effort to raise awareness of and appreciation for Kosciusko County’s waters through artistic expression, KLAS is proud to present the 4th Annual Wonderful Water Student Art Contest.
Students from Kosciusko County public and private schools in grades 4-12 are encouraged to enter, as well as area homeschoolers.
The contest theme is “Our Lakes and Rivers are Treasures!” Entries should include water (lakes, streams, rivers, ponds or wetlands) and show students’ understanding of the theme.
All entries must be received by April 6. Entries will be judged by a panel from the Grace College Art Department based on creativity, artistic merit, compatibility of any wildlife with its habitat and depiction of the theme.
There will be first ($50), second ($30) and third ($20) place prizes selected from four grade categories: 4-6, 7-8, 9-10 and 11-12. Winning artwork will be displayed in Mt. Memorial Hall at Grace College from April 23 to May 11.
First-place winners will also have the opportunity to have their artwork matted, framed and displayed in MutualBank locations around the county. Winners will be presented with checks at the Northern Indiana Lakes Festival June 9.
