State Attorney General Files Suit Against Warsaw Woman

A Warsaw woman, Nikki Brindle, is being sued on charges of Internet fraud by State Attorney General Steve Carter.

The state alleges that Brindle violated deceptive consumer sales laws.

Brindle, of White Wolf Designs, 2603 E. Pine Drive, Warsaw, was arrested in October after police found that Brindle had allegedly sold thousands of dollars worth of electronics equipment over Internet auction sites like Ebay, collected the money and never delivered the items.

According to a press release, the attorney general's office has received more than 100 individual complaints against Brindle, coming from all over the United States and Canada. People allege they were cheated out of between $75 and $3,000 per item.

"While we receive hundreds of complaints about Internet sales gone bad, this is the largest case involving one person," Carter said.

Carter also urged consumers to be cautious when making online purchases and to check customer feedback, available on most auction Web sites. He also said not to spend more than one can afford to lose, since there always is a risk when conducting business with strangers.
