SOUTH WHITLEY - South Whitley United Methodist Church recently received a gold krugerrand coin worth $1,500 in the church’s offering plate. The donor is unknown. Pastor Rob Barton, South Whitley United Methodist Church, was surprised to learn a 1976 one-ounce Gold Krugerrand was left in Sunday’s offering plate. Barton said the donation left the church amazed and gratified. “In this season of miracles it is beautiful to see that there are still those who would bring him silver and gold to honor his birth,” Barton said. “May we all honor him in our own ways during this special season.” Barton said the person who donated has a heart of gold to match their gift.
