South Whitley Approves Slate Of Officers

SOUTH WHITLEY – At Tuesday night's meeting, the South Whitley Town Council voted to retain the same slate of officers in 2026 with Brock Waterson as president, Kris Shoemaker as vice president and Randy Cokl as councilman.
Council also approved Clerk-Treasurer Alyssa Knepple as the Region 3 board representative for the town of South Whitley.
In other new business, council approved the planning commission's recommendation for a plat and approved a 9GB Tech contract with Ryan Gable for work on the town's website.
In public comments, Judy Earnhardt asked about the council's posting of town employees' job descriptions and asked that the council "schedule out what you're going to do for the year" in 2026.
Council also heard questions about Bobby, the K9 officer, and the log jam under the Ind. 5 bridge. Council will talk with the state highway department regarding the jam.
Earnhardt announced she is running for county council as Tom Warner is stepping down.
Knepple said the clerk's office would be closed Dec. 24 and 25 but would reopen Friday, Dec. 26.
Council will next meet at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 13.
