Martin’s Super Markets will host its first “Snapshot with Santa” fundraising event Dec. 14 and 15 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at all Martin’s locations. All proceeds will benefit charitable organizations chosen in advance by each Martin’s store. The Warsaw Martin’s has chosen the Cure JM Foundation, an organization devoted to finding a cure for juvenile myositis. Kami Johnson, Warsaw Martin’s community affairs specialist, said the volunteer-staffed organization is “really close to my heart” because it gives 100 percent of donations to research. During the event, children will be invited to visit with the store’s costumed Santa Claus and have his or her picture taken by a store assistant “elf.” Photos will be developed and printed immediately on-site for a $2 cash contribution, which will in turn be donated to the store’s chosen charity. “We wanted to provide a way for kids to have easy and affordable access to the traditional seasonal ‘picture with Santa,’” said Elise Kunkel, Martin’s marketing specialist. “Some families have a difficult time getting out to the few area locations that feature Santa visits, and we’re fortunate to have 21 stores throughout the communities we serve. We felt, too, that we should make an effort to keep the cost of the photo moderate at $2 each. Then, by each store donating the proceeds to a worthy cause of its choice, we could help the community in another way during the holidays, too.” For more information on Cure JM, visit www.curejm.org
