PLYMOUTH – Six Wawasee Schools students were transported to St. Joseph Hospital in Plymouth after the bus they were riding in collided with a dump truck Wednesday morning. According to a Marshall County Police Department crash report, a Wawasee school bus, driven by Patricia S. Myers, 59, Syracuse, was transporting 47 students and two adults while traveling west on U.S. 30 in Plymouth. A second vehicle, a dump truck driven by Scott J. Morrison, 57, Ora, was traveling east on U.S. 30 making a left turn on King Road at a green left turn arrow just after 10 a.m. Wednesday. For an unknown reason, Myers disregarded the red light on King Road and struck Morrison’s vehicle as it was turning left, according to the report. Six students complained of pain and were transported to St. Joseph Hospital where they were treated for injuries and later released. Myers was also transported to St. Joseph to be treated for pain to her arm. Morrison was not injured. The crash investigation is continuing and will be forwarded to the Marshall County Prosecutor’s Office for review. Drugs or alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the crash. Indiana State Police were assisted at the scene by Marshall County Police Department, Plymouth Fire Department and EMS, Union North EMS, Carnegie Towing, St. Joseph Hospital and several Wawasee Schools officials.
