Thursday morning, Fernando 0. Paredes plead guilty to dealing cocaine, a Class B felony.
Paredes, 36, of 3211 Myrtle Glen Drive, Silver Lake, was charged with two counts of dealing cocaine, a Class B felony, and two counts of possession of cocaine, a Class D felony.
Kosciusko County Circuit Court Judge Rex Reed took the plea under advisement and ordered a pre-sentence investigation report prior to sentencing Feb. 9 at 9 a.m.
As per Paredes’ plea deal, for his guilty plea the state of Indiana agreed to dismiss one count of dealing cocaine and the two counts of possession of cocaine. Within the deal there is a cap of six years on whatever sentence is imposed.
Paredes was arrested Dec. 6 for allegedly selling cocaine to an undercover officer Nov. 14. According to the probable cause affidavit, Paredes was on tape talking to an undercover officer about prices and weights before he sold the officer cocaine. The officer purchased 1-1/2 grams of cocaine Nov. 14, and on the 15th Paredes sold cocaine to law enforcement again.
When Paredes was arrested, Kosciusko County Drug Task Force members noticed he had an outstanding warrant in Marion County.
Paredes is being held on $50,000 surety bond In the Kosciusko County Jail.
