AKRON – Officers from the Indiana State Police, Akron Town?Marshal’s Office and Fulton County Sheriff’s Department responded to a two-vehicle crash at 5:14 p.m. Monday on Ind. 19 at Division Road.
Joseph Frances Cosgrove, 65, Silver Lake, was pronounced dead at the scene from injuries suffered in the crash, according to an ISP news release.
The preliminary crash investigation revealed that Cosgrove was driving a 2006 Chrysler minivan west on Division Road, approaching Ind. 19 and allegedly failed to stop for the stop sign at Ind. 19.
Cosgrove pulled into the path of a northbound 2002 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Matthew B. Haussman, 39, Rochester, resulting in the truck striking the driver’s side door of the minivan.
Haussman was taken by helicopter to a Fort Wayne hospital, police said, for head trauma and a leg injury.
The crash is under investigation but use of alcohol or narcotics is not suspected as contributing to the crash.
