SILVER LAKE – Silver Lake Days will return this year on Friday and Saturday.
On Friday, the car show, sponsored by Parkan Company, is from 2 to 8 p.m. There will also be music by DJ Ricky from 3 to 8 p.m. and a scavenger hunt from 6 to 7 p.m. For the scavenger hunt, people have to be 18 or older to participate and there are two-person teams. A prize will be given to the first-place team. The hunt begins at Our Hometown Station.
On Saturday, there will be a parade starting at 11 a.m. at Ind. 14 and Walnut Street. The lineup begins at the Home Designs lot.
The tractor show, sponsored by the Silver Lake Agri-Center, will be from noon to 1 p.m., with awards given out at 1:30 p.m. on Ind. 14. The motorcycle show, sponsored by Maverick Motorcycle Inc., will be in downtown Silver Lake on Ind. 14 from noon to 1 p.m. with awards given out at 1:30 p.m.
Also on Saturday, the cutie king and queen award is given out at 1 p.m. in downtown Silver Lake on Ind. 14. Contestant need to be aged 3 to 7. The grand prize is a bicycle for the king and queen. A second-place prize will be awarded to a boy and girl. The children will be placed in the parade with a parent in the cutie king and queen category. The final judging will be at the judge’s table at 1 p.m. The parade theme is “2nd trip around the Sun.”
The Fire Department Tenderloin Fry will be on Sycamore Street Saturday from 12:30 to 2 p.m. or until sold out.
A cornhole tournament, sponsored by Jamie’s Silver Inn, will be in downtown Silver Lake Saturday from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m.
A tug-of-war will be at Rambler Park at 2 p.m. Participants have to be 18 and older with teams of six. There is a $10-per-team entry fee. Four or more teams must sign up. Refunds will be given if there are not enough teams. First prize is $150 and second prize is $75.
There will be live music at Rambler Park from 6 to 9 p.m. City Lights Band will perform. The event is sponsored by RTC Communications.
On Saturday at Rambler Park, there will Gator Gulp from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Zorb Ball Track and Animal Kingdom from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. At Our Hometown Station, there will children’s train rides at 10 a.m.
All-day events Friday and Saturday will be food and craft vendors and townwide garage sales.
