Warsaw Plan Commission will vote next month on a zoning ordinance change that outdoor sign companies don't like.
Three outdoor sign companies voiced concernab about a provision Monday during the city plan commission meeting.
Currently, the city differentiates between on-premise signs and off-premise signs, which allow a business to have its own sign and also rent a billboard sign on the same property.
The proposal would eliminate the distinctions and replace them with the term, "free standing signs." But if the lot is large enough, two signs will still be available, said city planner Pat Hudson.
Billboard companies say the change would hamper their ability to do business in the city.
Current signs would be grandfathered, Hudson said.
Hudson said opponents have been given adequate opportunties to voice concerns, and a vote will be taken April 9.
