WINONA LAKE - Where are you taking your special someone for Valentine's Day? The monthly Second Sunday Series: Recital and Hymn-Sing, hosted by the Christian Performing Artists' Fellowship, presents a special Valentine's Day Celebration.
Unlike the other Second Sunday concerts, dessert - cheesecakes and other treats - will be served in addition to performances of romantic works from the classical repertoire. An Enchanted Evening will be Feb. 13 at 7:30 p.m. in Rodeheaver Auditorium, corner of Ninth Street and Park Avenue, Winona Lake.
Selections such as Beethoven's violin concerto and "Romanze" from Brahms' Opus 118 solo piano works will be performed in a candle-lit setting. Prose and poems on the theme of love will be read in collaboration with each work.
Artistic director Dr. Patrick Kavanaugh strives for excellence in programming. Background music will be provided prior to the recital. A hymn-sing will follow the musical presentation.
This event is ticketed, but tickets are free. To reserve tickets call the CPAF office, 574-267-5973. Some tickets also are available at the door prior to the event.
The Christian Performing Artists' Fellowship, a nonprofit missions organization to the classical performing arts, also hosts the annual MasterWorks Festival, which takes place for part of June and July. The Festival has presented hundreds of concerts in the three summers it has been held on the campus of Grace College.
The year-round Second Sunday Series brings the same level of performance from the Rodeheaver stage to the community. In addition, CPAF sponsors the Guest Artist Recital Series that invites young and seasoned professionals to Winona Lake to present solo and collaborative chamber music performances.
