Second Generation of Hall Family Sings Gospel

Posted
SOUTH WHITLEY – For more than 40 years, members of the Hall family have come together in song.

Mary Hall, the matriarch of the Hall Family Gospel Singers, said the group has traveled to Ohio, Kentucky, West Virginia, Virginia and Arkansas singing gospel favorites.

Her children, Glenn, 53; Rita, 52; Rick, 51; and Vickie, 50, have been involved in the group since they were small children.

Now a second generation of Hall family members are involved in gospel singing.

Adam Hall, 29, plays guitar and is at Blackhawk Baptist in Fort Wayne.

Thomas Hall, 26, is the Warsaw Wesleyan music director.

Frankie Hall, 21, is involved  in music and the youth program at New Life Christian Church.

The group averages a performance about once a month.

They began at the Free Will Baptist Church, Packerton.

On Aug. 11, they will perform at River City Campground in South Whitley.

The concert begins at 7 p.m. and they accept free-will donations.

The group remains based out of Kosciusko County, Mary said, because they have many friends in the community and feel a connection to it.

Glenn’s in-laws, Angie Trump and Hedgel Perry, are now in the group as well.

The Aug. 11 show will be about an hour and a half long.

Along with gospel standards, the group also performs originals like “Anchor Deep”, which Glenn wrote.

The group has five recordings with the most recent being “I Am That I Am”, which was released in 2006.

Their CDs are sold at concerts.
