Scouts Race Saturday In Downtown WarsawRain didn't stop Cub Scouts from racing their Cub Mobiles down Indiana Street Saturday morning.
Approximately 100 Cub Scouts from 10 packs in Kosciusko and Whitley counties participated in the 10th annual cubmobile race.
The scouts built and painted the Cub Mobiles and the vehicles didn't have motors and operated by gravity. They steered the vehicles with a rope and the vehicles had a hand brake and seatbelt. There were seven weight classes and the top three scouts in each weight class received a trophy.
Scott Fox, event coordinator, said the race allowed the scouts to earn their bear elective.
The race track went down Indiana Street and ended at Fort Wayne Street.
There was a starting gate and bales of hay lined the street to separate the two lanes.
An electronic score board kept the Cub Scout's race times.
The scouts who participated in the race were boys ages 6-11 in grades first through fifth.
