Scouts Earn Government Badges At Pierceton

PIERCETON - Boy Scout Troop 761 attended the town council meeting Monday, earning their government badges.

The boys heard town marshal George Alexander say the new police car has arrived and should be available for duty soon. Due to the color of the vehicle, though, he asked members to see the car before the police department decal is applied.

Alexander also said three people are interested in serving on the reserve officer force and asked the councilmen to join in interviews for the volunteer position. Reserve officers patrol the town on weekends.

Alexander also said two video cameras have arrived to be installed in the squad cars.

Fire chief Gordon Baker said the Rescue 5 vehicle has been repaired, the fish fry is two months away and the Pierceton/Washington Township department will host the county meeting of firefighters Feb. 20.

Baker said smoke detectors are still available with personnel available to install them.

In other business, the council renewed the tax abatement request of Paragon Medical.

Town council members are Jerry Kreger, Terry Hill and Ron Hall.
