Continuously serving Kosciusko County since 1854
The Breakfast Optimist Club is sponsoring the Santa House again this year.
There is no charge for a visit with Santa.
Last year more than 550 children sat with Santa. Each child received a candy cane and a photo with Santa. The children were not the only ones seizing the opportunity as adults opted to sit on Santa's lap for a photo.
The Octagon club, which is a high school group sponsored by the Optimist Club, will assist with the Santa House. They not only help decorate the Santa House, they also are Santa's helpers. Many of the Octagon members are bilingual, which provides an opportunity for community members who speak other languages to visit with Santa.
The Santa House is located between Kmart and Hallmark. With a bright and shiny new coat of paint, it will be hard to miss. Santa will be available to visit on three weekends: Dec. 2-4, Dec. 9-11 and Dec. 16-18. Hours are Fridays, 6-8 p.m.; Saturdays, 2-8 p.m.; and Sundays 2-5 p.m.
The Breakfast Optimist Club serves the youth of the community. The club has more than 90 regularly attending members, who meet Wednesday mornings at 6:30 for a breakfast meeting.
The Breakfast Optimist Club donates thousands of hours and dollars each year to benefit the youth of the community. The Optimist sell Christmas trees next to Owens. All of the proceeds from the tree sales stay in the community for local youth.
A person interested in knowing more about the Optimists can join them for breakfast every Wednesday at 7 a.m., at Westminster, Winona Lake. Come a little early for breakfast.
