Salvation Army Kicking Off Red Kettle Campaign With Rummage Sale, Open House

Posted
The Salvation Army of Kosciusko County is kicking off its Kettle Campaign with an indoor rummage sale and open house at the organization's community center.
The center is at 501 E. Arthur St., Warsaw.
The event will be on Friday from 3 to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
On these days the community is invited to enjoy a dinner from Warsaw’s Dig's Diner. Dig will be cooking his chili which will be served with cornbread and a drink.
The cost per bowl will be $5.  Admission to the open house and rummage sale is free.  Funds raised on these days will directly support the organization’s programs with youth and women in Kosciusko County.
“We are trying to get the word out about our Red Kettle campaign, hoping our community will respond and get involved. Our rummage sale and food sale is just an excuse to get people to visit our center and learn more about other volunteer opportunities available,” said Lt. Karen Pommier, commanding officer.
Ken Locke, community ministries director, added, “Our local service groups have traditionally been very supportive of our campaign but we need more involvement.  The needs in our community continue to grow and we want to be prepared to continue responding.”
Recently The Salvation Army held its annual service club bell ringing drawing at Cox Studio.  Representatives from local service clubs invite the community to be part of this combined effort.
Ringing locations and open shifts can be found at www.registertoring.com The Salvation Army will also be ready to assist any volunteers who want to sign up over the phone at 574-267-5361.
The Salvation Army's kettle campaign was down last year due to record low temperatures, but the organization remains hopeful for this year, expecting to receive $75,000 in kettle contributions alone.
