Salvation Army 'I'll Fight Day' SaturdayYouth will have the opportunity to serve the community Saturday.

Children 6 to 16 years old who attend the local Salvation Army's church will assist with the organization's "I'll Fight Day."

The event is Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Salvation Army, 501 Arthur St., Warsaw.

"I'll Fight Day" is a national event when youth from the Salvation Army across America serve others in their communities.William Booth, founder of the Salvation Army, said, "While women weep, as they do, I'll fight; while children go hungry, as they do now I'll fight; while men go to prison, in and out, in and out, as they do now, I'll fight."

"The purpose of the event is to get our youth involved in the community and let the public know we are here," said Salvation Army Capt. Dale Brandenburg.

At Warsaw's Salvation Army, children and adults can attend the free event and get their photos taken with Santa, enjoy free hot chocolate and cookies and make a mouse and candy cane craft.

Youth also can register from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Salvation Army to win Christmas stockings filled with toys. The winners of the stockings will be announced at the Salvation Army at 2 p.m. Saturday and winners do not need to be present to win.

The Salvation Army congregation donated toys for the stockings and will make cookies.

There will be 10 to 12 youth from Salvation Army who will help take photos, serve refreshments and assist with crafts.

"We want to give back to the community that has been so good to us and this gives our congregation an opportunity to do something for someone else," said Salvation Army Capt. Sandra Brandenburg.
