Kosciusko County Republican Central Committee has scheduled a county reorganization meeting in the old Circuit Courtroom in the old courthouse.
The meeting will be at 10 a.m. March 7. Positions that will be elected include chairman, vice chairman, secretary and treasurer. All Kosciusko County Republican precinct committeemen and vice committeemen are eligible to participate in the caucus. The terms for all four of the officers will be four years with the next election in 2013.
Aaron Rovenstine, Kosciusko County Republican chairman, said he will not seek another term as chairman.
"It has been an honor to serve as county chairman for two years, and I can't express the appreciation I have for the other officers I have served with," Rovenstine said.
He said it was enjoyable to work throughout the county with the precinct committeemen and town boards.
"I can't express enough gratitude for the volunteers who gave of their time and talents to work for a cause they believe in," Rovenstine said.
He said, even though it has been a rough couple of election cycles for Republicans, Kosciusko County maintained its strong conservative principles and gave state and nation al candidates large victories in the county.
He said, four years ago former chairman Mike Gavin handed him a strong party foundation to grow on.
"Hopefully, we have added to this foundation and we can now look forward to passing it on to our next party leader. I would like to sincerely thank the Kosciusko County Republicans for allowing me to serve," Rovenstine said.
Those interested in running for county chairman must file a letter of intent with the county party secretary and with the state committee secretary at least 72 hours prior to the reorganization meeting.
When a letter of intent is filed, there will be no nominations from the floor for the office of chairman. All other positions may be nominated from the floor, but a courtesy call to a central committee member would be appreciated.
Marsha McSherry wants to continue serving as vice chairwoman, and Steve Foster wants to continue as treasurer. Any questions about running for office or about the procedure can call Rovenstine at 574-858-9036 for more information.
