Douglas R. Garrett, 31, was pronounced dead at the scene of the 4:45 p.m. accident on Ind. 15, south of CR 50, in Elkhart County.
According to the Elkhart County Sheriff's Department, Garrett was northbound on Ind. 15 when his pickup traveled left of center and went off the west side of the highway, striking a tree head on.
