Indiana Conservation Officers investigated an ATV accident that occurred Sunday at 3:45 pm.
According to Conservation Officer Guido Tims, Sam Gagnon of Rochester was operating an ATV at 1133 Spatzen Nest Court in Rochester when the ATV he was operating in a field hit a bump.
After hitting the bump, Gagnon’s right foot slipped off of the foot rest and landed on the ground. Gagnon’s right foot was then run over by the rear wheel and Gagnon was thrown from the ATV.
Gagnon was transported to Woodlawn Hospital where he was treated and released for a broken right foot.
Tims said alcohol was not a factor in this accident but that Gagnon was not wearing any protective gear at the time of the accident.
Conservation Officers urge operators and passengers of ATVs to follow all manufacturers’ safety recommendations, including the manufacturer’s recommended capacity.
