Rider Critical After Cycle Crash Near SyracuseSYRACUSE - A Sunday morning motorcycle accident has left a Milford man in critical condition at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.
According to the Kosciusko County crash investigation team, Darin A. Hostetler, 42, Milford, was riding a 1978 Harley-Davidson motorcycle on Bowser Road near Syracuse when he was unable to make a sharp turn and continued into a bean field. He was pinned under his motorcycle several feet off the south side of the road.
Around 2:40 a.m. Sunday, the Kosciusko County Dispatch Center received a 911 call about the accident and sent sheriff's deputies and medics to the scene.
Hostetler was unresponsive when medical personnel arrived. They immediately began performing CPR on Hostetler and transported him to Kosciusko Community Hospital where his heart was revived. He then was taken to Lutheran Hospital, for more treatment. He was listed in very critical condition at Lutheran Hospital this morning.
Hostetler was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
The crash remains under investigation by the Kosciusko county crash investigation team, and legal blood draw results are pending.
The crash investigation team was assisted by the Syracuse Police Department, Syracuse/Turkey Creek EMS, the Syracuse/Turkey Creek Fire Department, Milford EMS, and Milford Fire Department and the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department.
