INDIANAPOLIS – State Representative Rebecca Kubacki (R-Syracuse) offered a House resolution this week honoring the 2013 State Superintendent of the Year, Dr. Craig J. Hintz. Hintz was chosen by the Indiana Association of Public School Superintendents as the Superintendent of the Year. “Dr. Hintz got right down to business and took charge,” said Kubacki. “That’s what it takes to get a school from good to great. I’m so glad I have the opportunity to honor Dr. Hintz.” During Hintz’s time as superintendent of the Warsaw Community School Corporation, the school district has received numerous awards and recognitions, including being selected by the Indiana Department of Education to receive the state’s largest innovation grant to create an elementary school science, technology, engineering and mathematics academy. The Warsaw Community School Corporation also implemented courses in dance, culinary arts, additional Advanced Placement and dual-credit courses also were added. High school graduation rates have increased 12 percent, and the school corporation has been ranked 11th in the state for growth under Hintz. “Since the beginning of his teaching career in 1969, Dr. Hintz has been a model example of a Hoosier educator. I am pleased to be able to recognize him for his hard work and accomplishments,” said Kubacki. As the 2013 Superintendent of the Year, Hintz will represent Indiana in the American Association of School Administrators National Superintendent of the Year program.
