Amtrak presented the Golden Spike Award for outstanding sales of Amtrak tickets to ABC Travel Specialists and Mayor Jeff Plank, who was instrumental in getting an Amtrak depot in Warsaw. In 1986, 9,530 people were served by the Warsaw depot, an average of 26 per day.
Ground breaking was held for Lake City's newest banking facility, to be erected west of Warsaw on U.S. 30. The bank will be known as West Lake Branch Lake City Bank.
One of the best proofs that Warsaw has half again as much population as before the war is the traffic. It is a real chore to find a parking space in the business district these days. Every day is like Saturday night used to be. In recent months several disused business rooms have been remodeled. There does not seem to be an empty room any place.
Workmen employed by J.E. Beyer, of Winona Lake, were busy today excavating and enlarging the viaduct passage under the Pennsylvania railroad at the Winona station. The incline walk will be cut lower and cemented and the passage enlarged.
