The Checkerboard Feed Store was a mass of ruins today after being virtually destroyed by one of the most disastrous fires in Warsaw history. Only the brick walls formed a skeleton of the remains of the large 2-1/2 story building located at the intersection of Center and Columbia streets, only two blocks west of the business section of the city and one block south of the senior high school building. Damage was expected to be more than $200,000.
