Dennis Melvin Fairchild’s name occupies Panel 34W, Line 7, of the Vietnam War Memorial. His daughter, Wendy, was 2 when he was killed in Bing Duong, South Vietnam, Jan. 15, 1969. His son, Troy was 14 months. Although the Akron native’s body was recovered, Fairchild’s dog tags were not found. Recently, one of the tags was presented to his children by the man who found the dog tags being sold as trinkets on the streets of cities and towns in South Vietnam.

    Elaine Kloser, 1984 graduate of Warsaw Community High School, is this year’s winner of the Warsaw Branch of American Association of University Women Scholarship. A senior at Ball State University, Kloser has maintained a 3.49 grade point average while being active in a myriad of extra curricular activities.

     Roland Mayes Jr., 42, is the new manager of Judd’s Drug Store in downtown Warsaw. He comes from Judd’s No. 1 Inc. at Elkhart where he went in 1960 after being employed at Doud’s Drug Store in Alma, Mich., since about 1937.

    After 45 years’ absence Mr. and Mrs. Harley Nelson, formerly of Silver Lake, today visited Warsaw and Silver Lake, arriving here from their home in Northfield, Minn., accompanied by other relatives from Illinois and Minnesota. They planned to visit relatives and friends in Silver Lake and continue to North Manchester where Mr. and Mrs. Nelson will celebrate their golden wedding anniversary. Mrs. Nelson is a sister of Charles Olinger, of North Manchester.
