    Manchester College surprised an employee of 37 years recently by naming a building after him and letting him undrape the name without foreknowledge. The David Friermood Hall of Storage was named for David Friermood, 60, the college’s coordinator of college set-up and former director of maintenance. About 100 people with college affiliation attended the dedication ceremony. Friermood is very popular in the college community.

    Supporters of a new grid system passed a major hurdle in getting a rural numbering system implemented after the Kosciusko County Commissioners agreed to spend up to $50,000 for the project. The latest proposal involves the use of a grid system, which is different and believed simpler than the baseline system that has been used for many years. If the grid system is adopted, it would establish a system whereby specific geographical locations can be identified.

    Handsome Bruce Howe, Winona Lake’s fire chief, was crowned “Warsaw Maharajah” recently at the final performance of Tri Kappa’s “Red Stocking Revue.” The Maharajah’s harem includes Mrs. Bruce Maish, Mrs. Ray Steenhausen, Mrs. Robert Meyers, Mrs. George Haymond, Mrs. Jerry Opperud, Mrs. Don Dalton and Mrs. George Fracker.

    Al Gerard, Jerry Gerard, Russell Bolinger, Mr. and Mrs. W.E. Murchie, E.W. Parke, Earl Longfellow and Mr. and Mrs. C.C. Garner are among those from Warsaw who attended the Notre Dame-Pittsburgh football game Saturday at Notre Dame University at South Bend.
