10 Years AgoSeveral local businesses and individuals are teaming up with Big Brothers/Big Sisters and the Cruisin' Hoosiers to present the 15th Annual Big Brothers/Big Sisters and Cruisin' Hoosiers Car and Truck Show. The event will take place at Petro's GM Showplace and admission is free. "The community is coming together to raise money and have a good time." Art Gakstatter, Warsaw, said.25 Years AgoThe Welcome Wagon Club met at the Redeemer Lutheran Church recently. The main program for the evening was playing crazy bridge, which had its own crazy rules. Everyone brought a white elephant gift and were prepared for a fun evening. The hostesses for the month were Carol Babb and Mary Jo Retseck. Margaret Blauvelt won the raffle, a kitchen towel and hot pad brought by Kathy Jones. The next meeting will be in September and Mayor Jeff Plank will be the guest speaker.50 Years AgoMr. and Mrs. David E. Sellers, of Bourbon, have returned from a vacation tour which included Glacier and Yellowstone National Parks; Jackson Hole, Wyo., the South Dakota Black Hills and Badlands and visits with relatives in Minnesota, North Dakota and Manitoba.75 Years AgoMore liberal instructions have been given the Winona Lake police by the town board. Formerly, the town board was dominated by the governing board of Winona Institutions, residents at the park declared, but now a more liberal attitude is being followed. While Sunday bathing is prohibited on the beach owned by Winona Institutions, on other beaches Sunday bathing is not interfered with by the park police. Also in bathing attire, Winona Lake has gone modern, and bathing suits are acceptable on all bathing beaches at Winona Lake.
