The Kosciusko County Relay For Life kick-off rally will be Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Warsaw Community Public Library conference room in the lower level.

Lavy, 30, a Roann resident, will speak about his breast cancer battle at the rally. He was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2006.

Lavy has undergone cancer treatment and radiation at the Center of Hope Cancer Care at Kosciusko Community Hospital.

He is a service technician. Lavy is married to Sarah Lavy, and they have a son, Stone.

This year's relay theme will be announced during the rally. Those who attend will have the opportunity to receive information about this year's relay and get team packets.

The rally will feature food, guest speakers and prizes.

The Kosciusko County Relay For Life is May 3-4. The relay will begin at noon May 3 with an opening ceremony, and end May 4 at 8 a.m.

Proceeds will be donated to the American Cancer Society for cancer research.

During last year's relay, $59,000 was raised. This year's goal is to raise $75,000, according to walk chair Rick Enyart.

"It is hard to find a person who does not know a friend, co-worker or relative who has undergone cancer," Enyart said.

"The goal of Relay For Life is to raise funds for cancer research to eradicate all forms of cancer."

There were 30,040 cases of cancer in Indiana in 2007, according to the American Cancer Society.

People with questions about the relay, or to register a team or volunteer, can call Enyart at 574-268-9535 or visit www.acsevents.org/relay/in/kosciusko
