Red Ball Offers Trip Back To 'Beatlemania'

Posted

The spirit that came to be known as "Beatlemania" in the 1960s will be alive again when The Red Ball brings the musical group "The Return" to Kosciusko County.

This year's ball will be May 14 at Tippecanoe Lake Country Club.

The annual Red Ball supports the Kosciusko County chapter of the American Red Cross. Larry Peppel is the executive director of the local chapter.

Money raised during this event will stay in the county. The local chapter separately has raised more than $21,000 for the tsunami disaster and has forwarded that money to the American Red Cross International Response Fund.

Some of the areas that have been supported by The Red Ball include: disaster assistance - approximately 30 requests anticipated; armed forces emergency services for area active-duty military and their families; the blood collection program, which hosts more than 50 blood mobiles each year; lifesaving skills education and water safety lifeguard instruction; and public education and awareness training, which provides education in prevention and survival preparation.
