Recording Artists Booked for Day at the Lake for St. Jude

Billy Currington and Phil Vassar are the top acts for the Fifth Annual Day at the Lake for St. Jude.

The event is Sept. 9 at the Kosciusko County Fairgrounds.

“It’s the only event of its kind in the nation,” said Mike Loher, Kosciusko County Fair entertainment director.

Loher said that’s because the way it’s structured, the event is paid for before it takes place. Then all the money raised through the event goes directly to St. Jude.

Billy Currington is a Grammy-award nominated and platinum-selling artist.

In 2010, Currington broke a 20-year-old Kentucky State Fair attendance record when more than 20,000 people saw him perform at the Bluegrass State’s fair.

Vassar previously performed at the Kosciusko County Fair and has written hits for himself, Tim McGraw and Alan Jackson.

Gates open for the event at noon.

There will be food vendors and an assortment of kids activities.

There will be a child ID clinic, pony rides and a 5K.

There will be a 100-mile Ride For Research. Day of registration for the ride starts at 11 a.m.

The cost is $30 for the rider and $20 for the passenger. The cost includes a meal and a concert ticket.

There also will be karaoke with Chris Cage.

“I think this is the biggest show to ever come to Warsaw,” said Loher.

Allan & Ashcraft are the opening act for Vassar and Currington.

Grandstand tickets are $15 while track seating is $25.

There will be general admission pit seating where the middle two sections of seating typical are. Those tickets are $35.

Tickets go on sale Wednesday at the Kosciusko County Fair Office or through kcfair.org
