NORTH WEBSTER – Ralph W. Bradbury, 95, of Grace Village Retirement Community, Winona Lake, formerly of North Webster, went to be with the Lord at 12:56 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, 2019.
He was born on July 22, 1923, in Danville, Ill., to Ralph W. Sr. and Katherine Koehn Bradbury.
During World War II, Ralph enlisted in the U.S. Navy Seabees and served in British West Indies, Philippines and China.
He married Grace Holcomb of Eldred, Pa., on May 28, 1956, in Chattanooga, Tenn. She survives.
He was a graduate of Moody Bible Institute, Chicago, Ill.; Tennessee Temple College, Chattanooga, Tenn.; and University of Tennessee Graduate School. Ralph was employed with Hamilton County Juvenile Court, Chattanooga, from 1953-1969 as detention unit superintendent and later court director. He later joined Moody Bible Institute, where he served as the assistant dean of students for 22 years.
After retirement the family moved to North Webster. Ralph was involved in the Calvary Baptist Church in Oswego, in civic programs, and was a member of Lakeland Kiwanis Club for several years. He especially loved his Lord and his family. He enjoyed all sports and coached basketball at MBI and TTC.
Also surviving are a daughter, Mary Katherine “Kathy” (Kevin) Reed of Eau Claire, Mich.; a son, Mark Stephen (Julie) Bradbury of Elburn, Ill.; two granddaughters, Rachael (husband Mark) and Elizabeth; five grandsons: Thomas, Hunter, Philip, Conner and David; two great-grandchildren, Lyla and Paislee; and two sisters-in-law, Esther Kuhn, Hickory, N.C., and Dolores Holcomb, Smethport, Pa.
Ralph was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, the Rev. Robert D. Bradbury.
Visitation will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 10, at Grace Village Assisted Living Life Center, 337 Grace Village Drive, Winona Lake, and one hour prior to services on Friday in the funeral home.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 11, at Owen Family Funeral Home, Ind. 13 and C.R. 500N, North Webster, with Chaplain Bryan Benjamin officiating. Burial will follow in the Mock Cemetery.
