To recognize Earth Week 2002, Barb Hahn's second-grade class at Leesburg Elementary built a rainforest biosphere and gave tours of the biosphere to the school's other classes. Besides the biosphere, students held a coin drive to adopt a new rainforest area; collected soft drink aluminum can tabs to send to Riley Children's Hospital in support of the Ronald McDonald House; decorated grocery sacks donated by Jones Grocery, Leesburg; and planted wildflowers in the school's courtyard. Above, the students are pictured inside the biosphere tube Thursday. Photo by Gary Nieter, Times-Union
