Posted
City officials, emergency services and school system representatives met with Norfolk Southern Railroad Corporation representatives Wednesday to discuss the following railroad grade crossings currently closed for leveling rehabilitation in Kosciusko County:
• CR 900S
• CR 800S
• CR 550S
• CR 350S
• CR 300S
• Section Street, Claypool
• Ranch Road, Warsaw
The locations are all along the north/south Norfolk Southern railroad tracks. Leveling of the closed grade crossings should be complete before this weekend, weather dependent, according to a Warsaw Police Department press release.
Railroad grade crossings that will be closed within the next few days are:
• Fort Wayne Street, Warsaw
• Arthur Street, Warsaw
• CR 350N, Warsaw
• CR 600N
• CR 1000N
After crossing closure, leveling rehab at these spots will take approximately one week to complete, weather dependent.
Warsaw Police request motorists avoid these areas.
Norfolk Southern representatives acknowledge that multiple closed grade crossings are an inconvenience and frustration for motorists, so when applicable, advanced warning signage will be posted to assist motorists in choosing a different route. Police advise that it is always best for motorists to know at least one alternate route to their destination.
After this week’s unexpected closures, NS representatives will notify the Kosciusko County Central Dispatch Center when they close a crossing and again when it has been reopened.
