Pro-Life Music Festival Set For June 27

Posted

Fifteen Christian rock bands, extreme games and about 500 campers will take over the City County Athletic Complex the weekend of June 27 as the fifth annual Pro-Life Music Festival comes to town.

This year's festival promises to be the biggest, and maybe the best ever, according to event organizer Martt Clupper. Since 1999, and its first audience of 350 people, the event has grown steadily.

Already, more than 300 campers have registered for the weekend and many more are expected. "I wouldn't be surprised if we had at least 500 campers," Clupper said.

On Friday night, Kutless will play, followed by five up-and-coming bands.

Headllining band Pillar will take the stage Saturday night. The contemporary Christian hard rock band recently signed a contract with MCA Records, a division of Universal that typically produces and distributes secular music. Their album, "Fireproof," is for sale in stores and can be heard on hard rock radio stations.

In addition to Pillar, 38th Parallel, Everyday Sunday and Royal Ruckus will play. Local bands GODSound and Augustine's Garden, which includes two Warsaw natives - David and Jaison Baker - also will perform that night.

Besides the weekend's fun and games. a serious message will be presented.

Speakers in support of the pro-life view, including a person who terminated a pregnancy, will hold discussions and workshops emphasizing the event's theme: forgiveness.

They also will provide a time for women who may be considering or who have had an abortion to discuss their feelings.

"It's like there's a whole abortion subculture out there," Clupper said. "They can't talk about what they've been through but they still feel it. We want to let them know that there's a way for the pain to go away."

A free-will donation will be taken during the concert. Half of all proceeds will be donated to local crisis pregnancy centers.
