Filing for the May 3 primary ended at noon Friday with only Republicans filing for county-level races. The biggest race appears to be for three county council at-large seats with six people to appear on the ballot. While incumbent Bob Sanders, Warsaw, filed for re-election, the other two council at-large incumbents, Larry Teghtmeyer and Jon Fussle, did not. In order to retain his seat for the next four years, Sanders will have to run against: Sue Ann Mitchell, Warsaw, the current county treasurer; Tressa Nichols, North Webster, who has been involved in a number of political campaigns around the state; Evan McKinley, Leesburg, a 17-year-old Warsaw Community High School student; Joni Truex, Warsaw, the former Builders Association Kosciusko Fulton Counties executive officer; and Ron Robinson, Etna Green, the current county administrator. The only other county race will pit Northern District Commissioner and incumbent Brad Jackson, Syracuse, against challenger Marcia Baumgartner, Milford. Unopposed candidates are: Ann Torpy, Mentone, clerk of the circuit court; Ron Truex, Warsaw, middle district commissioner; Michael Kissinger, North Webster, surveyor; Rhonda J. Helser, Warsaw, treasurer; Anthony Ciriello, Milford, county coroner.
