Prep Roundup: LCA Loses Close Game To Fort Wayne Blackhawk

WINONA LAKE – The Lakeland Christian girls basketball team was edged 36-35 Thursday in a home game against Fort Wayne Blackhawk.

The Lady Cougars trailed 8-5 after the first quarter and 14-13 at halftime. They were down by six heading into the fourth quarter, in which they outscored Blackhawk by five.

However, it was just short of enough. 

Tori Calizo had 11 points and eight rebounds for the Lady Cougars (12-9), while Abigail Fishel scored nine points and Anna Reimink pulled down nine rebounds.

LCA will play Saturday at 11:30 a.m. at Clinton Christian. 



Wawasee Crushed

SYRACUSE – The Wawasee girls basketball team was routed 71-43 Thursday in a home Northern Lakes Conference game against Concord.

Wawasee was outscored 18-10 after the first quarter, and scored just six points in the second quarter to go down 38-16 at the break.

Concord cruised to victory in the second half.

Casey Schroeder scored a game-high 18 points for Wawasee, while Kendal Swartout led Concord with 17 points.

SYRACUSE – Jada Parzygnot had an all-around score of 34.73 to lead the Wawasee gymnastics team to a 100.6-92.525 home win Thursday over Lakeland.

Wawasee’s Alyssa Minnix was first on bars with an average score of 8.6, while Aundreya Wegener was first on beam (9.23), and Parzygnot was first on floor (9.53).



Triton ‘C’ Team 

Tops Plymouth

PLYMOUTH – Bruce Johnson scored 11 points to lead the Triton boys basketball ‘C’ team to a 32-27 win Thursday at Plymouth. 

Cole McKinney scored nine points for Triton, while Brandon Kitch added six points.
