Prep Roundup: Lady Warriors Hang On To Beat ECA

SYRACUSE – The Wawasee girls soccer team held on for a 2-1 win over Elkhart Christian on Thursday in a home match.

Allie Haberman scored on a goal assisted by Natalie Winters in the 30th minute, and Hannah Lancaster added another goal in the 67th minute.

Elkhart Christian scored five minutes later, but the Wawasee defense was able to stand tough to seal the victory.

Sam Kolberg was in the net for the Lady Warriors (2-8-1), who had 20 shots on goal.



Reimink, Calizo Lead LCA To Win

WINONA LAKE – Anna Reimink and Jessi Calizo kicked in two goals each as the Lakeland Christian girls soccer team shut out Lakewood Park 5-0 on Thursday in a home match.

Keely Bauer also scored for the Lady Cougars (7-1-2), while Maddie Paris was in the net with nine saves.

Lakeland Christian will host Fort Wayne Fusion on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.



Vining Leads Valley To Victory

AKRON – Harrison Vining netted two goals to lead Tippecanoe Valley’s coed soccer team past Peru 4-1 Thursday in a home match.

Kaitlin Neese and Jacob Bailey also scored goals for Valley, which will play Wednesday at 5 p.m. at Whitko.



Lady Tigers Topped By Pilgrims

PLYMOUTH – Betty Barnett spiked 16 kills but the Warsaw volleyball team fell in four games Thursday at Plymouth.

Warsaw lost 23-25, 25-19, 22-25, 20-25.

Kacy Bragg recorded 40 assists and seven kills, while Kylie Smith had 15 digs, Cora West had nine digs and Kennedy Lauck recorded nine kills for Warsaw (13-4).

The Lady Tigers will compete in Saturday’s Michigan City Varsity Tournament.



Triton Spikers Fall To Bethany Christian

GOSHEN – Lexia Hostrawser tallied eight kills, but the Triton volleyball team lost 3-1 on Thursday at Bethany Christian.

Triton fell 11-25, 25-23, 18-25, 15-25.

Dylanie Miller had 17 assists, while Molly McFarland recorded 10 digs and Alyxa Vier registered nine digs.

The Triton JV team lost 25-12, 25-14.  



Whitko Blanked By Central Noble

ALBION – The Whitko volleyball team lost in three games Thursday at Central Noble.

The Lady Wildcats fell 25-22, 25-18, 25-13.

Whitko’s Reese Bradford registered 13 assists and six digs, while Kristina Slater recorded 22 digs, and Sarah Hewitt and Elizabeth Miller tallied five digs each.



Trojans Score Singles Wins Against Bluejays

NORTH JUDSON – The Triton boys tennis team won 4-1 Thursday at North Judson.

John Gardner won 6-1, 6-4 at No. 1 singles for Triton (6-9), while Connor Large won 6-4, 6-3 at No. 3 singles.

Triton’s Carter Kuntz and Chase Butler won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 doubles, while Tyler Heckaman and Grant Elb teamed up at No. 2 doubles to win 6-2, 6-0.

Triton won the JV match 2-0.



Warriors Net Win Over Chargers

SYRACUSE – Their wins in the singles matches propelled the Wawasee Warriors boys tennis team to a 3-2 win Thursday over Elkhart Memorial in a home match.

Zach Leedy won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, while Graham Perek won 6-3, 7-5 at No. 2 singles and Colin Rhoades won the No. 3 singles match, 6-4, 6-3.

Wawasee is 6-9, 1-5 Northern in the Lakes Conference.



Squires Squash Wildcats

NORTH MANCHESTER – The Manchester boys tennis team topped Whitko 5-0 on Thursday in a home match.

Manchester will host Columbia City at 5 p.m. on Monday, while Whitko will play Monday at 4:30 p.m. at West Noble.



Tigers Fall To NLC Rival NorthWood

NAPPANEE – The Warsaw Tigers fell 4-1 at NorthWood Thursday in a Northern Lakes Conference boys tennis match.

The Tigers’ lone win came at No. 2 doubles, as Jarett Orr and Michael Ray beat Grant Topping and Dawson Brey 6-2, 6-3.

In No. 3 singles action, Warsaw’s Brian Elliott lost a three-setter to Landon Holland, who netted a 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 win.



Whitko Falls Short Against Columbia City

NORTH MANCHESTER – Bailey Wright shot a 50, but the Whitko girls golf team lost 180-215 to Columbia City on Thursday at Sycamore Golf Club.

Whitko’s Summer West shot a 53, Abby Arter scored a 55, and Gus Garr carded a 57.

Katie Hoag medaled with a 40 for the Lady Eagles.

Whitko will play Saturday in the sectional at Stonehenge Golf Club.



Kelly, Canada Compete For Valley

ROCHESTER – Tippecanoe Valley had two golfers compete Thursday against Rochester at Round Barn Golf Club.

Sara Kelly shot a 69, while Cheney Canada carded a 74.

Neither team had a enough golfers for a team score.



Wawasee JV Falls To Concord

ELKHART – The Wawasee JV volleyball team lost 25-14, 25-22 Thursday at Concord.

Delaney Hare recorded 11 digs for the Lady?Warriors (12-3, 3-0 NLC), while Kai Jamora tallied eight digs and Leslie Vazquez had seven.

Emma Dippon registered five aces, while Jamora recorded seven assists.

Wawasee (11-4, 5-2 NLC) lost its freshman match 25-7, 18-25, 13-15.

Dylan Konieczny had six kills for the Lady Warriors, while Talia Kuhl recorded 17 digs, Brittany Price had nine digs, and Laney Gross recorded eight assists.
