PLYMOUTH – The Warsaw Lady Tigers opened the 2018 golf season Tuesday with a runner-up finish in the seven-team Plymouth Invite.
The Lady Tigers shot a team score of 356, finishing second to South Bend Clay (318).
Northwestern was third at 380, followed by Plymouth (427), Goshen (428), Elkhart Memorial (429) and Mishawaka (503).
The scoring format was different from most matches, as all five players from each team played together and the four best scores on each hole were counted toward the team total.
Junior Grayson Kilburn led Warsaw with an 85 and finished sixth individually. Seniors Izzy Ray and Madelyn Ray shot 94 each, while seniors Miriam Hagg and Julia Hildebrand shot 97 and 99, respectively.
The Lady Tigers are in action again Thursday when they host Triton and Chesterton in an 18-hole match at Stonehenge.

Lady Squires 6th In Penn Invite
GRANGER – Manchester’s varsity girls golf team competed in yet another loaded tournament Tuesday, as the Lady Squires finished sixth out of 11 teams in the Penn Invite at Knollwood Country Club.
Sam Kissell led Manchester with an 89, while Kelsey Eichenauer carded a 95. Madyson Ulrey and Cora Barnett shot 107 and 108, respectively, and Alissa Bickerstaff rounded out Manchester’s lineup with a 121.
“Overall we played better than our scores reflect,” said Manchester coach Josh Troyer. “A few tough pin locations and miscues made our rounds look worse than they were.
“I was proud of the girls for grinding today and hitting some great shots even if they don’t feel like they played their best. I look forward to seeing our team play the next two days on familiar courses and having those great shots also give them great results like they should.”
Homestead won the team title Tuesday with a score of 324, followed by Penn (346), Northridge (363), Noblesville (364), Concord (391), Manchester (399), Bremen (405), Elkhart Central (415), Dwenger 424, Portage 449 and New Prairie (546).
