TIPPECANOE – Potawatomi Wildlife Park extended its appreciation to Mark Espich as he concludes 20 years of dedicated service on the Board of Directors, serving from 2006–26.
Throughout his tenure, Espich played an instrumental role in shaping the future of the park, according to a provided news release. He served as board president for several years, helped strategically guide numerous park improvement projects and was a driving force behind the continued growth and success of the park's annual fishing derby, which has become one of the community's most anticipated family events.
"We are incredibly grateful for Mark's commitment, leadership and countless volunteer hours over the past two decades," said the Potawatomi Wildlife Park Board. "His passion for conservation, outdoor recreation and serving our community has left a lasting impact on the park."
Espich now joins the ranks of 36 former board members who have donated their time, talents and leadership to Potawatomi Wildlife Park throughout its history. Those individuals include Amanda Petrucelli, Barry Davis, Bette K. McDaniel, Betty Bessinger, Bill Cleavenger, Bill Price, Bill Veldt, Brian Pyle, Brooke Downing, Carol Bowen, Eldon Horn, Forrest Kantner, Gerald Romine, Jay Grossman, Jim New, John Anglin Jr., Jon Cook, Jordan Maiden, Kevin Pfeiffer, Larry Beeson, Lisa Eiser, Louise Mason, Lynn Utter, Lynne Baldwin, Mark Schurr, Margaret Easton, Michael Williams, Nick Treber, Robert Fisher, Roger Terry, Ron Zimmerman, Seth Carter, Sylvia Bieghler, Tana Beeson, Wayne Bessinger and Wes Rettinger.
Today, the park is governed by a dedicated volunteer Board of Directors consisting of:

In addition to board service, Potawatomi Wildlife Park is currently seeking volunteers to serve on several committees. Committee members are non-board, non-voting volunteers who play an important role in helping the park succeed, the release states.
The Event Committee is one of the most popular ways to get involved, assisting with planning and implementing the park's monthly community events.
The Building & Grounds Committee helps facilitate park improvement projects, repairs and long-term maintenance efforts.

Events Ahead
The remainder of 2026 is packed with fun for the entire family at Potawatomi Wildlife Park.
Aug. 22 – Inaugural Lumberjack Olympics. The park is trying something new. Several board members are hosting the first-ever Lumberjack Olympics featuring competitions for both amateurs and professionals, including: Crosscut Saw Competition, Chainsaw Competition, Hatchet Throwing, Axe Throwing.
September – Annual Fishing Derby. One of the park's signature events returns with thousands of dollars in prizes and giveaways, made possible through the generosity of an incredible donor. Families of all ages are invited to spend the day fishing and enjoying the outdoors.
October – Annual Banquet & Trivia Night.
November – Glow-in-the-Dark Scavenger Hunt.
December – Luminaria Hike & Wagon Ride.
