Mary Masters, nationally known Potawatomi artist, will be featured at the Old
Jail Museum on Saturday.
The great-granddaughter of Chief Pierre Moran, Masters will be
at the museum from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Chosen premiere artist
through a display of her work at the Indiana Convention Center,
in 1995 she opened a studio in Shipshewana. She has sculpted
commissioned figures of Shirley Temple Black, President George
Bush and Pope John Paul II.
Visitors at the Jail Museum may watch and listen as she
fashions tiny figures of Native Americans and recounts tales of
her full-blooded Potawatomi heritage. There is no admission
charge at the museum, located at 121 N. Indiana, Warsaw, but
