Police Say Bourbon Man Took Payment For Work He Never DidA Bourbon man was arrested Thursday on a home improvement fraud charge after being paid for work that he never did.

Eugene R. Gregory, 50, of 120 N. Main St., Bourbon, was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail at 3:25 p.m. Thursday for home improvement fraud, a level 6 felony, and on a warrant in a civil matter. His total preliminary bond was set at $7,660.

On Aug. 22, Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department deputy Shawn Castillo spoke with a man who said that on July 5, 2017, he and his wife entered into a written agreement with Gregory, doing business as Creative Gardens Landscaping. Gregory was to provide stone work and weed barrier for a total of $6,040.

The man wrote a check to Gregory for $3,000, with the remainder due when the work was completed. Gregory cashed the check on July 7, 2017, according to court documents filed Tuesday.

As of Sept. 11, 2018, the money was not returned and the work was not completed.
